what does happen to the soul at death? there is no orthodox dogma that answers this question, but there is much inspired information from the saints. the passage of the soul from the body, close to which it remains for three days, to it's particular judgment after forty days, where it's place to wait until the resurrection of the body and the final judgment, is pictured in this beautiful icon.
